Loneliness is a public health risk. It’s effects are as harmful as smoking 15 cigarettes a day, and the stats indicate that older men are less likely to admit to being lonely than older women. In order to tackle this taboo, Dave filmed with three World War Two veterans who have faced loneliness.
The aim was to make a film spearheading an Easter fundraising appeal. As a secondary aim, the film was designed to raise awareness of the issue, driving home to older men that it’s OK to admit to experiencing loneliness, and that there are services out there which can help.
The film was featured in nationwide press outlets, and led to the charity’s most successful Easter appeal to date.
